The Days That Were

Ah, summer. Long days, chilly evenings, fireflies, ice cream man, and kids frolicking in the front yard.

Or at least kids used to be frolicking.

Our front yard used to look like this:

But now, 4 of the kids pictured have moved. It's like a ghost town around here during the day. My kids are so sad. They have to play with just each other now.

We still have the fireflies, and the ice cream man, but it's just not the same without Neighbor Kate and her kids. They would walk right into my house through the garage door (like any good friend should), they would take drinks out of the fridge in the garage (like any good friend would), and we would "watch" the kids for one another, which is basically code for "don't let them go anywhere but in the circle, I'll be right back".

I miss her. :(

All I have to say is this; Georgia won't be the same now that Kate has invaded, and somebody cool better buy her house across the street. I don't need anymore freaks.

You guys can come over and swim anytime. :) Now that swim team is over....we're home....a lot more. ;) It's not as convenient as across the street, though. :D

What a cute neighborhood. I'm so jealous of all the grass!

Dang it!! Stop making me cry all the time! We miss you too. Its not the same without you either. And poor Madison asked about playing with Maggie today :( .
You know...there are plenty of houses for sale in the neighborhood down here. There is a pool too. Just like in Utah. And a Mormon Church, and and ice cream truck......

I am sorry your friend had to leave. But wow, your neighborhood looks great! Grass! What a concept! I am completely jealous.

I love that Kate tells you there is a Mormon Church in GA. Awesome.

Hang in there.

I understand. Our street has emptied out of kids as well. I've had to loosen the strings to allow the boys to play farther from home so that they have friends to play with.

I miss the literally next door friends...

I love those days...but you don't realize what you have until it's gone.

Neighborhoods have a way of changing - we were excited to have a family with 2 small children buy the house up the street. Not that we have anyone for them to play with, but just to liven things up - something besides "Meals on Wheels" and Fedex truck to speculate about!!

We'd love to buy Kate's house, be so close to you guys, let the kids run around all day, but I don't know if we're cool enough. But the free drinks out of the garage is pretty tempting . . .
