For Sale, One Garage

So I did it. I had my first ever garage sale. It wasn't too bad. Luckily, for a day in mid-November, it was quite pleasant outside, getting up into the high 50's for most of the day. I put out a comfy chair, a little side table, procured a Coke and some tunes, and proceeded to make myself a hundred and fifty bucks. Not bad for 6 hours of work, huh? Except for that really I worked all week getting stuff ready. So that $150 isn't much considering I worked about 20 or 30 hours on the sale. But still, it's a little cash for Christmas, so I can't really complain.

Here are some shots from the day.

All my junk spread out for the world to see.

A different angle to give you a scope of how long the driveway is, and that it's totally filled with stuff. Why do I have all this extra stuff? Ick.

So now I'm left with the dilemma of what to do with all the leftover junk. The crib and changing table, a perfectly awesome Kelty KIDS backpack, a brand new Ogio golf bag, all stuff I was sure would sell, are still clogging the arteries of my garage. I guess I could Craigslist them, but then I have to take pictures, and blah blah blah. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow.

I'm glad it's over, and even though I swore I would never do a garage sale of my own, it was nice to see some of the stuff go to good homes.

* And if you look closely, you'll see Bebe on the driveway up by the garbage cans. I tried to give her away free with purchase, but alas, no takers. I also tried this with my screaming 2 year old.

seriously....im impressed! Just wish I lived there so I could actually witness it! Take ur crib and backpack to OUAC. They will give you good money for the crib.

Ha you live in a McMansion..that's what we called the sprawling neighborhoods like that when we were driving through Maryland.

Definately craigs list the crib. I've always wondered if it's worth having a garage sale or not? Until then the stacks in my shed just keep getting higher and higher.

Kate, I'm taking it there today. Will they take my toys, too?

Nikki, I totally live in a McMansion. They're all the same. It's hilarious. But we love it!

First, I'm totally jealous of that driveway! And congrats on the success. As far as your crib, do you guys have a Childrens Orchard type place(2nd hand kids stuff)? If you can find one it might be worth taking the baby stuff in. They'll pay you cash for it.

Wow you got lucky with nice weather! And $150 is not bad. At least you have cleaned the inside of your house and that stuff can just stay in the garage til you decide what to do with it. Maybe you can gift some of it to your neighbors at Christmas?

I'll take the 2 year old for a trade. You get Boomer!

Jill, I'll pass on the dog, but I'll take Gracie any day!

Nice going! Love the house too! My question is where did you get that awesome clothes rack??

Mandee, I got the rack from my friend who does a children's clothing resale at one of the elementary schools. She has done it the last few years, so she finally had her hubby and a couple of guys from the Ward make them up for her. They come apart and store in very little space, and go together pretty easily. I think they're cool. Sean's company makes commercial garment racks, which I love, but I would have had to wait a week to get some, and I didn't want to wait. ;)

I've never done a garage sale - seems like so much work - but it must be great to get rid of stuff.

I just give it away.
